Dr. Katie Lewis, a native of Minnesota, has always had a passion for animals.  Upon graduation from college with a bachelors degree in Biology, she moved to Lexington, KY to immerse herself in the horse world and begin her training to attend veterinary school.  

Dr. Lewis graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and was accepted into Park Equine Hospital's first internship program for advanced studies in reproduction, medicine, surgery and general ambulatory equine medicine.

Dr. Katie has performed emergency procedures such as colic, lacerations, choke and dystocias as well as advanced reproductive medical techniques such as artificial insemination with fresh, shipped cooled, and frozen semen, embryo transfer and hormone therapies.  She enjoys working with her clients to achieve the highest potential in their equine athletes and pets.  When the opportunity arose to expand her clientele to include small animals in their new downtown clinic, she rose to the challenge and loves it!  Dr. Lewis is an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Lewis enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, with special interests in general medicine and surgery, performance horse medicine, ophthalmology and breeding/foaling. Her hobbies include: playing ice hockey, gardening and regular neighborhood barbecues with her family and friends.  She is a proud mother of Robert (7), Henry (6), Georgia (4), Scarlett (2) their dog Mabel, Bunny and cats, Halen and Herman.  Dr. Katie and her husband Dr. Kris, are proud to offer equine and small animal services to Madison and surrounding counties in the Greater Lexington area.  They take pride in offering compassionate, quality care and look forward to being your family's veterinary practice.
